Recipe Ingredients for majjige huli

28.3 grams Coconut Meat, Dried (Desiccated), Not Sweetened
1/4 cup Chana Dal
1 oz Coriander
1 oz Peppers
1 tsp Cumin Seed
0.5 tsp Ginger Root
2/3 cup Winter Melon
2 serving Verka lowfat plain yogurt
0.33 tbsp Vegetable Oil, Canola
1 tsp Turmeric, Ground
1 serving Black Mustard Seed

Recipe Directions for majjige huli

  1. Soak chana dal for 1-1 1/2 hrs and then wash and drain the dal. add chana dal, coconut, green chillis, coriander, ginger, salt , cumin seeds, in a grinder and grind.

  2. Boil winter melon in water and salt and keep aside.

  3. When the ground mixture is ready, add turmeric to melon and pour the ground mixture and bring to boil.

  4. When boiling add yogurt and con;t boiling. You can add coriander and curry leaves extra if you like and add seasoning .

  5. Seasoning consists of oil, musturd seeds and asafotida, heated separtely and added to mixture.

  6. Once all this done, bring the mixture ot boil and you majjige huli is ready to eat with rice or chapati.

  7. Serves: 4-6 people.
