Recipe Ingredients for Main Event Marinara Sauce

1 cup minced onion
30 grams minced garlic (2 tablespoons)
28 ounces crushed tomatoes (1 can)
1/4 cup water
30 grams tomato paste (2 tablespoons)
1 2/5 grams honey (2 teaspoons)
15 grams dried oregano (1 tablespoon)
1 2/5 grams dried basil ( 2 teaspoons)
3/10 grams crushed red pepper flakes (1/2 teaspoon)

Recipe Directions for Main Event Marinara Sauce

  1. spray a medium suacepan with olive oil spray and place over medium heat.

  2. Add the onion and garlic and cook until just becoming tender (4-6 minutes).

  3. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the tomatoes, water, tomato paste, honey, oregano, basil, and pepper flakes. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, for at least 1 hour. Season with salt if needed.
