Recipe Ingredients for Maharashrian Lentils

280 g Mung Beans
600 ml Water
3 tbsp Sunflower Oil, Pinch asafoetida
1 tsp Mustard Seed
1 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Cumin Seed, 10 Curry Leaves
4 Peppers, Hot Chili, Green, slit chillies along side
150 g Tomatoes, fresh chopped
6 tbsp coriander leaves, fresh chopped
2/5 g salt

Recipe Directions for Maharashrian Lentils

  1. Bring lentils in the water to the boil and simmer until soft. Set aside.

  2. Heat oil and then add mustard seeds, when they pop add the asafoetida , turmeric , cumin, green chillies and curry leaves and fry for a minute.

  3. Add cooked lentils and bring to boil, turn off heat then mix in the tomatoes and coriander. Salt to taste. Keep covered until served.
