Great tomato based curry sauce that is quick and very good. Low in calories too! Great with rice or quinoa. Calorie count is for sauce only. Add calories for seitan or chicken.

Recipe Ingredients for Maharaja Curry Sauce with Homemade Seitan

2 T vegetable oil
1 t cumin seed
2 med onions
1 t ground turmeric
1 t garam masala
1 clove garlic
29 oz canned tomatoes
1/2 t. cayenne pepper

Recipe Directions for Maharaja Curry Sauce with Homemade Seitan

  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over med heat. Stir in cumin seeds and cook until they start to pop. Stir in onion & cook til golden brown, about 5 minutes. Season with turmeric, cayenne pepper (to taste) garam masala, garlic & ginger. Cook 1 to 2 min until fragrant. Puree the mixture with the tomtoes in a blender until smooth. Return the puree to the saucepan and add seitan. of choice and simmer until seitan is hot. Add water as needed while cooking to maintain desired consistency.

  2. Or you can use 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast, cubed.Simmer until chicken is done - about 20 minutes)
