Recipe Ingredients for Magnolia's Chocolate Cupcakes

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
4 large eggs
6 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Recipe Directions for Magnolia's Chocolate Cupcakes

  1. Preheat oven to 350*F.

  2. In a small bowl, sift together flour and baking soda. Set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter until smooth. Add the sugars and beat until fluffy (3 minutes).

  4. Add the eggs, one at a time.

  5. Add the chocolate, mixing until well incorporated.

  6. Add the dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with the buttermilk and vanilla. Do not overbeat.

  7. Spoon batter into cupcake liners, filling about 3/4 full.

  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Let cool about 15 minutes before icing
