Recipe Ingredients for macaroni & cheese

2 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup flour
2 1/2 cups skim milk
1 tsp dry mustard
8 oz Cheddar Jack Shredded Cheese
8 oz shredded gruyere
2 1/2 oz smart bacon
1 lb penne
1/2 cups breadcrumbs

Recipe Directions for macaroni & cheese

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Make bechamel sauce by melting the butter and whisking in the flour followed by the milk and mustard. Simmer 3+ minutes.

  3. Add to the sauce any seasonings you want at this point too - a little salt, white pepper and cayenne pepper are good.

  4. Cook the pasta al dente (about 8 minutes).

  5. Combine cooked pasta, cheese and sauce.

  6. Pour into a 3qt casserole dish. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

  7. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
