Baked macaroni & cheese dish...easy to do and tastes much better than boxed.

Recipe Ingredients for Macaroni & Cheese

16 oz penne
3 c broccoli
2 T butter
3 T flour
1/4 t red pepper flakes
1 t salt
1 black pepper to taste
2 c skim milk
1/4 onion chopped
8 oz cheddar cheese

Recipe Directions for Macaroni & Cheese

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Put the penne in well salted water, bring to a boil and cook according to directions. Add the chopped broccoli during the last 3 minutes of cooking.

  3. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium high heat. Stir in the flour, red pepper flakes, salt and black pepper. Cook about 2 minutes.

  4. Add the milk, bring to a boil and stir constantly until thickened.

  5. Stir in the onions and cheese until well mixed. Add the drained penne and broccoli.

  6. Put into a casserole dish and bake for approximately 35 minutes, until the top has browned.
