Recipe Ingredients for Macaroni & Cheese - Adult Style

8 oz. chicken breasts
1 tsp olive oil
1/4 cup flour
1 tbs butter
2 1/2 cups 1% milk
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 1/3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 cups elbow macaroni
2 tbs dry bread crumbs
2 tbs grated Parmesan cheese

Recipe Directions for Macaroni & Cheese - Adult Style

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a medium baking dish with non-stick spray.

  2. Prepare chicken breasts by cooking in a 1 tsp of olive oil.

  3. Cut chicken into bite sized pieces.

  4. Prepare macaroni. Drain.

  5. Place the flour in a medium saucepan.

  6. Gradually add the mil, whisking constantly, until smooth. Add the garlic, mustard, salt and pepper. Place over medium head. Cook while whisking constantly for 7 or 8 minutes or until thickened. Add the cheddar, stir until smooth and cheese is melted

  7. Place macaroni and chicken in baking dish and mix in cheese mixture.

  8. In a small bowl, combine the bread crumbs and parmesan cheese. Sprinkle over the casserole. Bake for 20 minutes or until bubbling and lightly browned.

  9. Place under broiler until top is crispy and browned.
