Mac and Cheeseburger Recipe

It's like Mac and Cheese but also like a Cheeseburger. :)

Recipe Ingredients for Mac and Cheeseburger

2 cups elbow macaroni
1/2 pound ground turkey
1 tbs olive oil
1 red pepper
1/2 onion
1 garlic clove
1 tbs flour
1/2 cup non-fat milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
5 oz tomato paste
1 tbs dijon mustard
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tbs ketchup
1 tbs mustard

Recipe Directions for Mac and Cheeseburger

  1. Preheat oven to high broil and spray cassarole dish with non-stick cooking spray.

  2. Cook elbow macaroni according to package directions.

  3. While macaroni is cooking add olive oil to a deep dish skillet over medium high heat add ground turkey and cook till browned adding salt and pepper. Once turkey is browned transfer it over to a paper towel lined dish.

  4. Return warm skillet back to stove over medium high heat. If pan is dry add a little more olive oil and sautee diced red pepper, diced onion and diced garlic clove for approximately 3 minutes or until vegetables are soft.

  5. Sprinkle vegetables with flour and mix in skillet, slowly stirl in milk, dijon mustard and 1.5 cups of cheese. Bring sauce to a light boil and reduce heat for sauce to thinken. Add ground turkey back to skillet.

  6. Add tomato paste to turkey mixture. Once macaroni is done cooking drain any water and add to turkey mixture and mix well.

  7. Pour mixture into sprayed cassarole dish. Evenly pour ketchup and mustard over top mixture and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Broil under high heat for approximately 3-5 minutes or until cheese is lightly browned.

  8. Let cool down a bit before serving.
