Recipe Ingredients for Mac and Cheese

8 tablespoons unsalted butter
14 1/2 ounces Elbow macaroni
1 clove garlic
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
6 tablespoons all purpose flour
3 1/2 cups whole milk
1 pound colby jack cheese
8 ounces reduced fat cheddar cheese

Recipe Directions for Mac and Cheese

  1. 400 degree oven

  2. melt 2 T butter and mix with 2 cup breadcrumb

  3. cook macaroni

  4. drain and leave in colander

  5. dry pot, melt rest of butter 6T, add mustard with 1 t water, cayenne, garlic.

  6. stir in flour, cook until golden.

  7. whisk in milk and 1 3/4 chicken stock

  8. cook until thickened, about 6 minutes

  9. off heat whisk in cheese until completely melted

  10. stir in mac

  11. pour into 9 x 13 dish cover with breadcrumbs evenly

  12. cook 25-30 minutes until browned and bubbly

  13. cool 10 min prior to serving
