Recipe Ingredients for Mabo-dofu

2 oz ground pork
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp ginger, minced
1 tsp chili paste
1 small onion, diced
1/2 cup celery, diced
1/2 cup carrots, shredded
1/4 cup green onions, chopped
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp sesame seed oil
1 tbsp miso (soy bean paste)
1/2 cups chicken stock
1 cup water
1 1/2 tbsp corn starch
12 oz tofu

Recipe Directions for Mabo-dofu

  1. In a sauce pan, saute minged ginger, garlic and onions until soft, add celery, carrots, and green onion; cook over med-hi heat until tender.

  2. Add red chili paste and ground pork, cook until meat is browned

  3. In a small mixing bowl, mix together soy sauce, sesame seed oil, miso, sugar, stock, and 1/2 cup water.

  4. Pour into sauce pan with meat and vegetable mixture, heat until it starts to bubble

  5. Mix the rest of the water and corn starch in a bowl and pour into boiling mixture

  6. Dice up tofu and gently mix into the sauce pan contents.

  7. Serve over rice and enjoy!
