2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
1 cup onion, chopped
1 cup carrots, chopped
1 lb. split peas
1 cup cooked ham, chopped
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
28 ounce chicken broth
8 1/2 cups water

Recipe Directions for Lynn's Ham & Split Pea Soup

  1. Heat olive oil in frying pan. Add onion and carrots and cook over medium heat until translucent and soft.

  2. Empty frying pan contents into large pot or dutch oven and add remaining ingredients.

  3. Bring to a simmer. Reduce heat so it continues to simmer and not boil. Simmer for 2 hours.
