Recipe Ingredients for Lynne's Turkey Sausage & Bow Ties

1 tablespoons olive oil
6 links (1 pkg) sweet Italian turkey sausage, casings removed and crumbled
1/2 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
1 med onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 T flour
15 ounce Italian plum tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1 c skim milk
1/2 cups half and half
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 lb bow tie pasta
3 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
3 T freshly grated parmesan cheese

Recipe Directions for Lynne's Turkey Sausage & Bow Ties

  1. Heat oil in heavy large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and pepper flakes. Cook until sausage is no longer pink, stirring frequently, about 7 minutes.

  2. Add onion and garlic to skillet and cook until onion is tender and sausage is light brown, stirring occasionally, about 7 minutes.

  3. Sprinkle with flour and cook for one more minute.

  4. Add tomatoes, milk, cream and salt. Simmer until mixture thickens slightly, about 4 minutes.

  5. Cook pasta in large pot of boiling salted water until just tender but still firm to bite, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

  6. Toss with mixture and sprinkle with parsley and parmesan.
