Tasty and filling. You can also add a chopped red bell pepper for additional flavor with a negligible addition of calories. Adjust heat to taste by raising or lowering the amount of cayenne pepper you add. Careful though, a little goes a long way.

Recipe Ingredients for Lowfat Spicy Turkey Chili

1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 lb turkey breast, ground
1 cup yellow onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
28 ounce tomatoes, crushed, canned
16 ounce kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp maple syrup
1 tsp red wine vinegar
1/2 tsp coriander, ground
1/2 tsp cumin

Recipe Directions for Lowfat Spicy Turkey Chili

  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan.

  2. Add turkey, onion and garlic; cook 5 to 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

  3. Add remaining ingredients; simmer uncovered 25 minutes.

  4. Good served over 1/2 cup cooked brown rice or whole wheat pasta.
