Recipe Ingredients for Lower cal banana bread

2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 medium bananas
3 egg whites
0.33 cup no calorie sugar substitute
1/2 cup 2% milk
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Recipe Directions for Lower cal banana bread

  1. Combine in a large bowl:

  2. 2 c whole spelt flour (or whole wheat or barley - or a mix of flours)

  3. 1/2 tsp salt

  4. 1/2 tsp soda

  5. 1 tsp baking powder

  6. Combine separately:

  7. 3 lg bananas

  8. 3 egg whites

  9. 1/2 c brown sugar or sucanat (or 1/3 c sugar substitute)

  10. 1/2 c milk or substitute

  11. zest of a lemon or orange (optional)

  12. 2 tsp vanilla or 1 Tbsp dark rum

  13. Mix wet and dry until just incorporated

  14. Bake at 350 for about 45 min - a toothpick inserted in center should come out clean.
