An easy to make, low salt bread.

Recipe Ingredients for Low salt wholemeal bread

2 1/2 cups of wholewheat flour
2 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
2 cups of warm water
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tbsp dry active yeast
1 tsp olive oil

Recipe Directions for Low salt wholemeal bread

  1. Place flour, salt and yeast in a deep bowl. Mix well.

  2. The water should be very warm, nearly hot from the tap. Add in the oil and pour into the flour mix. Mix until its like a thick batter, adding more water if necessary. Leave in the bowl and cover with a tea cloth and place somewhere warm, to double in size.

  3. Prepare a 600 gram bread tin and set aside.

  4. Turn the dough out on a board, and using extra flour, fold it a couple of times and shape into and oblong.

  5. Place into the tin and cover again. Begin the oven preheat to 230C. By the time the oven temp is reached, the dough should have doubled in the tin.

  6. Bake the loaf in the oven, until cooked about 35-40 mins. Loaf should sound hollow when tapped.

  7. Leave in the tin 5 mins. Then turn out and cool well on a rack. Then refrigerate the loaf to keep it.
