A delicious and healthy alternative to regular banana bread

Recipe Ingredients for Low fat whole wheat banana bread

1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cup honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 cup mashed bananas
1 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup hot water
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Recipe Directions for Low fat whole wheat banana bread

  1. Preheat oven to 325.

  2. In a large bowl, beat applesauce and honey together.

  3. Add eggs and mix well.

  4. Stir in bananas and vanilla.

  5. Stir in flour and salt.

  6. Add baking soda to hot water, stir to mix then add to batter.

  7. Blend in chopped nuts.

  8. Spread into 9x5 inch loaf pan sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.

  9. Bake 55-70 minutes.

  10. Cook on wire rack for 1/2 hour before slicing.
