Lowfat and easy alternative to traditional split pea soup

Recipe Ingredients for Low Fat Split Pea Soup

7 cups chicken stock
1 pound split peas
1/2 pound smoked turkey
1/2 onion
1 clove garlic
2 potatoes
1 tsp salt
2 tsp black pepper
2 tsp liquid smoke

Recipe Directions for Low Fat Split Pea Soup

  1. Bring stock to a boil.

  2. Add diced onion, potato, garlic, and rinsed split peas.

  3. Add diced smoked ham.

  4. Add seasonings and liquid smoke.

  5. Simmer for 30 minutes until peas are soft.

  6. Partially blend with an immersioin blender until about half of peas are liquified.

  7. Adjust seasonings.
