Applesauce replaces most of the butter typically used when making banana bread.

Recipe Ingredients for Low Fat Applesauce Banana Bread

2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
1 egg white
1 c sugar
1 tbsp butter
1/3 c applesauce, unsweetened
2 c (or 4-5) mashed bananas
2 tsp vanilla

Recipe Directions for Low Fat Applesauce Banana Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

  2. Combine dry ingredients (flour through salt).

  3. In a separate bowl combine remaining ingredients (egg thru vanilla).

  4. Add banana mixture to flour mixture. Stir until blended.

  5. Pour into greased loaf pan.

  6. Bake at 375 50-65 min until toothpick or knife comes out clean.
