A low calorie mushroom alfredo sauce that you can serve with chunked chicken breast over whole wheat pasta for a delicious and nutritious meal on a day you're just craving carbs!

Recipe Ingredients for Low Calorie Mushroom Alfredo Sauce

4 oz Pieces and Stems Mushrooms
2 1/2 cups 2% milk
3 tablespoon flour
1 cup water
1 T Italian Seasoning
1 tsp. pepper, freshly ground
1/8 tsp salt (for tasting)
1 T Country Crock
4 T Cream Cheese Fat Free

Recipe Directions for Low Calorie Mushroom Alfredo Sauce

  1. Chop all the mushrooms roughly.

  2. Then get a a non-stick pan and add the country crock and some nonstick spray.

  3. Add the mushrooms to pan and lightly fry for 1 minute.

  4. In about a 3 qt sauce pan add the milk and mushrooms.

  5. On medium heat bring the milk/mushroom mixture to a light boil for about 3 minutes.

  6. In a small bowl, add the 3 tablespoons of flour and mix it with the water.

  7. Mix the flour and water well and pour into the pot and mix well.

  8. Add the Italian seasoning and stir until sauce thickens, coating the back of a spoon.

  9. While the sauce is cooking, cook your pasta.

  10. Last of all, serve your white sauce with pasta and enjoy!
