Maple syrup, sage, thyme, and lean ground turkey make for a delicious and healthier alternative. ( I use montreal seasoning for the steak seasoning)If you don't like it spicy, use less or no cayenne.

Recipe Ingredients for Lourdes' Maple Turkey Sausage

1 lb. lean ground turkey
1 1/2 tablespoon maple syrup
2 teaspoons steak seasoning
1 teaspoon onion powder
2 tablespoon fresh sage
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fennel seeds

Recipe Directions for Lourdes' Maple Turkey Sausage

  1. In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

  2. Shape into 8 patties. Flatten thin as it puffs up.

  3. Spray a frying pan with nonstick canola oil and cook patties on medium high for 3 mins on each side. Lay cooked sausage on paper towels to drain excess fat. If cooking on a George Forman grill this should only take about 4 minutes and no need to turn.

  4. I cook these ahead of time and even freeze some.

  5. For an easy healthy breakfast, just microwave until warm with a lowfat muffin, half a fruit and a cup of ff milk for under 350 calories.
