How long does it take to see results when you start going to the gym?
Asked by anonymous on Nov 13, 2008 in Fitness

I intend to start going to the gym, and I am wondering how long it will take to see results.  I kind of have a pouch that’s flabby and I’m looking for visible results.

The time it takes to get in shape depends on many factors, including the type of cardio and weight-training you do, your training schedule, how much you eat, your genetic propensity to build muscle, and your physical condition at the start of training.  But, in general, it should take about six weeks of consistently going to the gym to see some results - although it might take six months or more to see the results you want.   If you had been working out for years and took a short break, you should see results in only 2 or 3 weeks.  Read about the mistakes people make when they start at the gym from the Guide to Body Building at
