This recipe makes 4- 10" pizza's- with a nice thin, tender, crispy crust. Add low cal toppings such as spinach, onions, olives, tomatoes, garlic... It's delish!

Recipe Ingredients for Liz's Home Made Pizza

3 cups bread flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbs extra virgin olive oil
1 1/2 cups water
3 1/5 g yeast
1 pinch sugar
1 cup pizza sauce
8 oz mozarella cheese

Recipe Directions for Liz's Home Made Pizza

  1. For the pizza dough...

  2. Proof the yeast by adding it to 115* water to which a pinch of sugar has been dissolved- the yeast will bloom in about 5 minutes.

  3. In the meantime, place the flour and salt into a large bowl or into your bread machine (use the dough setting) and make a well in the center. Add the olive oil. Add the yeast mixture a little at a time for the bowl (or all at once in a machine.) until the flour is incorporated and turn out onto a lightly floured surface.

  4. Knead the dough until it is smooth and springy, about 10 minutes or until your bread machine is finished.

  5. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover and allow to rise- about an hour. Cut dough into 4 equal parts, knead briefly and allow to rise again, about 30 minutes.

  6. (At this point, the dough may be wrapped and refrigerated or frozen. Keeps in the fridge for about a week, 3 months in the freezer.

  7. Roll or stretch the dough into 10" discs, top with pizza sauce and toppings, add cheese and bake in a preheated 450* oven for 10-14 minutes.

  8. *Option- a 1/2 and 1/2 dough is awesome, too- use 2 cups bread flour and 2 cups of whole wheat flour- you may have to add a couple of tablespoons of extra water.
