Quick Japanese-style liver and rice bowl

Recipe Ingredients for Liver-Don

1 lb calf liver
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp paprika
1/4 cup Kikkoman soy sauce
2 tbsp rice vinegar
3 1/2 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp olive oil
2 cups long-grain rice

Recipe Directions for Liver-Don

  1. Mix flour, salt, and paprika. Dredge individual liver pieces in flour and shake off excess. Fry liver in the olive oil until cooked. Save the drippings.

  2. Cook rice and 3 cups of water in rice cooker.

  3. Mix the drippings with the soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and remaining 1/2 cup of water. Reduce until thick enough to coat a spoon.

  4. Serve liver over rice, drizzle with sauce.
