This is a cross between a mushroom pate and a saute.

Recipe Ingredients for Linguini with Spicy Caper Mushroom Sauce

4 tablespoons Capers
3 tablespoons Olive Oil
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
1 lb Portobello Mushrooms
1/2 cup white wine
3/4 lb Linguini

Recipe Directions for Linguini with Spicy Caper Mushroom Sauce

  1. Combine the capers, oil, pepper, and red pepper flakes in a large, deep skillet. Heat over medium flame 4 minutes to combine flavors. Use a fork or stiff spatula to mash the capers into the oil.

  2. Add the mushrooms and toss to coat with oil. Reduce the flame to low and add the wine. Simmer until thick, about 10 mins.

  3. While the mushroom sauce simmers, bring a large stockpot of water to a boil and cook pasta until tender, about 8 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  4. Ladle sauce over linguini.
