These beef patties are a Swedish classic. I changed up the recipe a bit by adding bread crumbs, nutmeg, and allspice. These sweet, earthy patties are great alongside potatoes or fries and a nice salty cream sauce made from the leftover butter and bits in the pan.

Recipe Ingredients for Lindstrom Beef

500 g lean ground beef
2 eggs
1 medium red onion, finely chopped
2 beets, finely chopped
1/4 cup bread crumbs
2 tbsp heavy cream
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp sugar
1 dash allspice
1 dash nutmeg
3 tbsp butter

Recipe Directions for Lindstrom Beef

  1. Finely chop red onion and beets.

  2. Combine all ingredients in large bowl and combine thoroughly with a large spoon.

  3. Use your hands to form about 6 patties: aprox. the size of a regular hamburger patty.

  4. Preheat oven to 200 C. (375 F)

  5. In a frying pan, melt and lightly brown butter at medium high heat.

  6. Place patties in pan, and brown on either side. Once browned, remove and place in oven safe baking dish.(Alternatively, you may use a cast iron skillet to fry patties and place skillet straight into oven with the browned patties.)

  7. Place patties into oven for about 10 minutes, or until juices run clear.

  8. Remove from oven and serve. Best with potatoes, lingonberries, and a you can make a cream sauce (gravy) from the juices in the pan. :)
