Gyros is pronounced " ear-o-ws" This is a really light meal that is quick and easy.

Recipe Ingredients for Light Beef Gyros

1/2 cup beef broth
1 tbs garlic
1 tsp dried oregano
1 pound beef sirloin, strips
2/3 cup fat free sour cream
6 whole wheat pitas
2 cups lettuce, shredded
1 1/2 cups roma tomatoes, chopped
1 small cucumber, chopped and peeled
1 med red onion, sliced thin

Recipe Directions for Light Beef Gyros

  1. In a large zip lock bag combine broth, garlic, oregano, and beef strips. Put in fridge for 2-24 hours.

  2. Drain and discard marinade.

  3. Sautee beef in a nonstick skillet with a 1/4 cup water for 3-4 minutes. ( you don't want to see any pink )

  4. Stir together the tomato,cucmber, onion, and fat free sour cream.

  5. Put equal amounts of the dressing, meat, and lettuce on each preheated pita.

  6. Fold and eat.
