Hoisin chicken wrapped in iceberg lettuce leaves. Can be used as a main dish or an appetizer.

Recipe Ingredients for Lettuce Wraps

1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
2 scallions, chopped
1 1/2 breast chicken, diced
8 ounce sliced water chestnuts, rinsed and coarsely chopped
2 1/2 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
1/4 cup almonds, sliced
4 leaves iceberg lettuce

Recipe Directions for Lettuce Wraps

  1. Heat a wok or a 12-inch heavy skillet over moderately high heat - then add oil.

  2. Add ginger and scallions and stir-fry until ginger is fragrant, about 45 seconds.

  3. Add small cubed chicken and stir-fry until just cooked through, about 2 minutes.

  4. Add water chestnuts, hoisin sauce, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, and almonds and stir-fry until heated through, about 1 minute.

  5. Transfer to a bowl and sprinkle with additional scallions, sliced carrots, or leave plain.

  6. Serve by spooning hoisin chicken into lettuce leaves.

  7. If desired, serve with angel hair pasta.
