Boiled lentils with meat and rice. For a leaner version, replace ground beef with ground turkey and use either less bacon or less sausage)

Recipe Ingredients for Lentils stew

1/2 cup lentils
10 oz bacon
8 oz sausage
8 oz ground beef
1/2 med onion
1 med tomato
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup rice
3 med potatoes

Recipe Directions for Lentils stew

  1. Put the lentils in a cup of water the day before.

  2. Drain the lentils and put to boil in 1 cip chicken broth until tender (or cooked).

  3. Cut the bacon in small pieces (1" by 1/4"), cut the sausages in 5 or 6 pieces.

  4. Put the bacon in a pan (med hot) to melt the fat, oncea little brown, add the sausages, grounf beef and chopped onion. Use cummin, pepper, parsley and garlic powder. After a few minutes add the tomatoes. Let it cook until all the meat is fully cooked.

  5. Add the the lentils and potatoes and mix well.

  6. Serve accompanied with white rice.
