It's all about the nutrition here! Slightly dressed up lentils. Better if you add some kind of oil/fat, but lentils with kidneys and some tomato sauce with whatever spices and other stuff you want to throw in is just fantastic. I say it makes 4 servings but this could be more or less depending on whether it is a small side or a vital component of a larger meal with rice or something.

Recipe Ingredients for Lentils Plus #1 (tomato based)

1 cup Lentils, Mature Seeds
2 tsp Turmeric, Ground
1 tsp Coriander Seed
1 tbsp Onion Powder
2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/4 tsp Celery Salt
1/4 cup, chopped Carrots
1 stalk, medium (7-1/2" - 8" long) Celery
3 oz Mushrooms
4 small Mushrooms
3 cup (8 fl oz) Water
1 1/2 cup Beans, Kidney, Red, Mature Seeds, Canned
4/5 cup Tomato Sauce
1/4 cup parsley

Recipe Directions for Lentils Plus #1 (tomato based)

  1. Add 3 cups water to pot with lentils and bring to full boil then simmer.

  2. Chop and add everything as you get to it (except tomato sauce and canned kidneys -- if you are cooking soaked kidneys well then you probably know what to do already).

  3. Simmer for 30-45 minutes until lentils are tender or go ahead and let them get mushy if that is your thing.

  4. Mix in kidneys, tomato sauce, parsley.

  5. Bring to a boil one more time and then...

  6. EAT!
