Recipe Ingredients for Lentils and Ground Lamb

1 teaspoon canola oil
1 pound lamb, ground
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoon ginger , peeled and minced
2 tablespoon garam masala
2 cups water
14 oz diced tomatoes, in juice
1 cup dried green lentils
3 carrots, peeled, thickly sliced
1 cup frozen green beans

Recipe Directions for Lentils and Ground Lamb

  1. Heat oil in heavy large pot over medium-high heat.

  2. Add onion and cook until soft and starting to brown, about 7 minutes.

  3. Sprinkle lamb with salt and pepper. Add to pot; sauté until brown, about 5 minutes.

  4. Add curry powder; stir 30 seconds.

  5. Add 2 cups water and next 3 ingredients; bring to boil.

  6. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until and lentils are tender but not mushy, stirring occasionally, about 30-45 minutes.
