Recipe Ingredients for Lentils with Canadian Bacon

1 pound dry lentils, rinsed
3 ounces canadian bacon, diced
2 stalks celery, diced
1 medium red onion, diced
6 cups water
1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp butter
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Recipe Directions for Lentils with Canadian Bacon

  1. Melt butter in soup pot.

  2. Cook onions and celery in butter till onions are almost clear.

  3. Add canadian bacon and stir.

  4. Add lentils, water, garlic, salt, pepper, cilantro, and Tony's seasoning.

  5. Simmer slowly, stirring occasionally, until lentils have absorbed most of the water.

  6. Season to taste.
