Lentil and vegetable soup with dumplings

Recipe Ingredients for Lentil and Vegetable Soup with Dumplings

1 cups dry lentils
8 cups water
4 carrots, peeled and sliced
4 celery stalks, peeled and sliced
1 large onion, peeled and sliced
4 tsp chicken bouillon
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 cups flour
1 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon sugar

Recipe Directions for Lentil and Vegetable Soup with Dumplings

rinse lentils, cook in 2 quarts water. bring to boil, cook 20 min. then vegeatables, bouillon, garlic and pepper. cook, covered, 20 min over medium. mix together remaining ingredients in separate bowl. drop by spoonfuls into soup pot, replace lid and do not check again until 18 minutes have passed (the steam cooks them) serve hot!
