This is one of my favorite soups. It looks like pea soup, but tastes different. The stats are a little off because of the farmer sausage, which is a smoked pork sausage. Enjoy!

Recipe Ingredients for Lentil Soup

450 g red lentils
140 g bacon
191 g onion
220 g carrots
243 g potato (shredded)
2 quarts water
2 tsp salt
1/2 g bay leaves
1/2 tsp pepper
350 g farmer sausage
1/2 tsp thyme

Recipe Directions for Lentil Soup

  1. Cut up bacon and fry in bottom of pot.

  2. Add onions and carrots.

  3. Once the onions are cooked through add the rest of the ingredients.

  4. If you like you can substitute a ham bone and ham for the farmer sausage.

  5. Cook for 2 to 3 hours, stirring often.
