Yummy lemon cake - going to experiment with less sugar next time

Recipe Ingredients for Lemon Sponge Cake

1 cup sugar
1 tsp. butter
2 tbsp. flour
1 juice and grated rind fruit+2-1/8"+dia lemon
1 pinch salt
2 egg yolks
1 cup milk
2 egg whites

Recipe Directions for Lemon Sponge Cake

  1. Mix sugar and softened butter, add flour, then juice and lemon rind. Add beaten egg yolks, then salt and milk. Finally, fold in stiffly-beaten egg whites. Put in lightly greased baking dish and set in pan of boiling water. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes at 350F.

  2. The ?sponge cake? rises to the top, and the bottom forms a yummy lemon sauce.
