Recipe Ingredients for Lemon Bread

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
2 tablespoons grated lemon rind
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup plain yogurt
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
3 eggs
2 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
1/4 cup lemon juice

Recipe Directions for Lemon Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350; grease 2 loaf pans.

  2. Combine first 6 ingredients in a bowl and set aside.

  3. Combine sugar, oil, yogurt, milk, extracts and eggs and beat in an electric mixer until well blended. Stir in dry ingredients until just combined. Pour into loaf pans.

  4. Bake about 1 hour or until done.

  5. Combine powdered sugar, lemon juice and lemon rind and pour over loaves.

  6. Cool on wire racks.
