A true Italian secret is to ask the meat department to grind your meat twice. Feel free to use fresh spices and real chopped onions for more flavor. I have kids who don't like big "objects" in their food so this is a "kid-friendly" recipe.

Recipe Ingredients for leaner meatballs

1 pound ground turkey
1 pound 90% ground beef
1 cup skim milk
1 cup bread crumbs
2 eggs
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 tablespoon parsley
2 teaspoons oregano
1 tablespoon basil

Recipe Directions for leaner meatballs

Put meats in a large mixing bowl. Soak bread crumbs in milk. In the meantime mix rest of ingredients into meat using your hands only. Do not over mix. Add bread crumb mixture to meat and mix in. Roll into meatballs no bigger than golf ball size. Keep the meatballs small. You should get 32 meatballs from this recipe. Place meatballs on a broiler pan sprayed with cooking spray. Broil until well done, turning once half way through cooking.
