Recipe Ingredients for Lean bolongese

4 ounces baby carrots, finely chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
0.62 pounds ground turkey, 93% lean
1/4 pounds Sweet Lean Italian Turkey Sausage
1 1/2 cup skim milk
28 ounce crushed tomatoes
6 ounce tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Recipe Directions for Lean bolongese

  1. Brown the ground turkey and the turkey sausage in a non-stick skillet sprayed with Pam. Dump into the slow cooker.

  2. Sautee the onions, garlic, and carrots in the same skillet. Dump into the slow cooker.

  3. Add 1 cup milk, tomatoes, and seasonings and cook on low for approx. 5-7 hours. 30 minutes before serving, add another 1/2 cup milk and parmesan and simmer.
