excellent to prepare the night before in your food processor and add the liquid ingredients in the morning.

Recipe Ingredients for lazy day scones

1 1/4 c white whole wheat flour
3/4 c quick cooking oats, ground
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 pinch freshly grated nutmeg
1/2 cup sugar, divided
1/2 c unsalted butter, cold, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 c dried cranberries
1 c heavy whipping cream
1 c half and half, low fat
1/2 tsp finely grated orange zest

Recipe Directions for lazy day scones

  1. preheat oven to 425 degrees.

  2. in a small bowl mix 1/4 C sugar and 1/2 tsp grated orange zest.

  3. place flour, ground oats, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg and remaining 1/4 C sugar in food processor and pulse to mix.

  4. Add cubes of butter and pulse until mix resembles coarse meal.

  5. Transfer to a large mixing bowl. Stir in cranberries.

  6. Pour in whipping cream and half-and-half and stir just until combined.

  7. Drop mounds of batter, about 1/2 C each onto a baking sheet. Sprinkle each mound with sugar-orange zest mixture.

  8. Bake until puffed and golden, 20-25 minutes.
