Made with whole-wheat noodles and light cheeses, this is a quick and healthy alternative to lasagne.

Recipe Ingredients for Layered Pasta Bake

170 g (2 cups) whole wheat rotini, cooked and drained
250 g light ricotta cheese
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup shredded cheese

Recipe Directions for Layered Pasta Bake

  1. In a small casserole dish (the deeper, the better) pour some of the tomato sauce, then top with 1/3 of the rotini

  2. Spoon 1/2 of the ricotta onto the rotini

  3. Layer the sauce, rotini, and ricotta once again

  4. Top with remaining rotini, then sauce, and add shredded cheese to finish it off

  5. Bake covered at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes (or until bubbly and hot throughout

  6. Serve with extra sauce and parmesan cheese
