Traditional shepherds pie should be lamb, but the sweet potato is a twist.

Recipe Ingredients for Lamb Shepherds Pie

554 g lamb, ground
835 g sweet potato
262 g onion
3 tsp thyme, dried
156 ml tomato paste
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce

Recipe Directions for Lamb Shepherds Pie

  1. Dry fry the lamb, add the onion, turn the heat down and cover cooking until the onion is transparant.

  2. At the same time peel and boil the sweet potato until soft enough to mash.

  3. Add the herbs, worcestershire sauce and tomato puree, stiring through to heat but not cook.

  4. Drain the sweet potatos and mash. A little cinnamon is nice here too.

  5. Spread the meat mixture into the bottom of an ovenwear dish. Dollop the potato on top.

  6. Cook in the oven for 30 mins at 350F
