My grandmother was a small town master cook. These baking powder biscuits are plain, easy and fantastic.

Recipe Ingredients for Lael Kelly's Baking Powder Biscuits

2 cups flour
2/3 cup milk
2 teaspoons milk
1/3 cup shortening
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder

Recipe Directions for Lael Kelly's Baking Powder Biscuits

  1. Sift dry ingredients and blend in shortening as if you were making a pie crust.

  2. Then make a "well" in center of flour mixture.

  3. Pour in all the milk.

  4. Beat 40 strokes with a fork.

  5. Knead 10-15 strokes.

  6. Roll.

  7. Cut out.

  8. Bake 425 for 11 minutes.
