Yummy chili for a cold evening. Makes 12 - 1 Cup servings.

Recipe Ingredients for Kindals Homemade 1 Alarm Chili

1 lb lean hamburger
1 tsp cumin
1 T dried onion
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp salt
1 tsp oregano
2 T corn flour
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
4 T chili pepper
6 oz tomatoe paste
28 oz petite diced tomatoes, canned
1 c red bell pepper
1 c green bell pepper
1 small onion
2 c pinto beans
1 tsp sugar
1 T creamy peanut butter
8 oz of light beer
3 c water
1 tsp splenda

Recipe Directions for Kindals Homemade 1 Alarm Chili

  1. brown hamburger and onion in a skillet. Should use lean hamburger so no reason to drain. May also substitute turkey or a combination of the two.

  2. Transfer mixture to a stock pot and add all other ingredients.

  3. *chop the bell peppers in chunks & use home made pinto beans so there is no sodium. The water I used was from the beans that were cooking to help make the chili thicker. The corn flour I used is Masa. I used the peanut butter because it was a bit too spicy for me. You can use peanut butter or 2 chopped up carrots to help reduce hot spice flavor.

  4. Cook on low for about 1-2 hours so all spices can meld together and mixture can thicken.

  5. Serve with either 2 T shredded cheese on top or a teaspoon of lowfat sour cream. :) Enjoy.
