Recipe Ingredients for Khichri

0.33 cup Yellow Split Peas
1 cup White Basmati Rice
1 small Onions
3 tbsp Vegetable Oil, Canola
1/2 tsp Cumin Seed
1/2 tsp Turmeric, Ground
1/2 tsp Sea Salt
1 tsp Ginger Root
1 medium whole (2-3/5" dia) Tomatoes, Red, Ripe
4 cup Chicken Broth

Recipe Directions for Khichri

soak split peas 3 hours. Drain. Saute onion, rice and spices in oil til golden. Add tomato and split peas with chicken broth. Bring to boil and then simmer covered 25-30 minutes. Can add frozen peas and chopped cilantro .at end.
