Recipe Ingredients for Kefta bi Sinniyeh

2 pounds lamb, ground
1 1/2 cups parsley
3/4 tablespoon cinnamon
3/4 tablespoon allspice
1/2 tablespoon salt
1 pinch pepper
6 oz tomato paste
1 medium onion, sliced
1 medium potato, sliced
1 medium tomato, sliced

Recipe Directions for Kefta bi Sinniyeh

  1. Knead ground lamb, parsley and spices together until mixture is well incorporated.

  2. Flatten into a 9x13 pan.

  3. Slice onions, potatoes, and tomatoes into circles (not semicircles).

  4. Top meat mixture with vegetables, layering them in a nice design.

  5. In a saucepan, mix tomato paste with water and the same spices used in the meat. Stir until well blended over a medium heat.

  6. Pour tomato sauce over meat and bake on 400 degrees for approximately 30 mins or until meat is cooked all the way through.

  7. Serve with rice.
