Russian-Eastern European hearty dish

Recipe Ingredients for Kasha (Bukckwheat groats) Varnishkas (noodles)

1 cup buckwheat groats
1 egg white
1 onion
1/2 red pepper
1/2 pound mushrooms
1/2 cup parsley
1 1/2 cup water
1/3 pound pasta

Recipe Directions for Kasha (Bukckwheat groats) Varnishkas (noodles)

  1. Mix buckwheat groats with egg white.

  2. Saute chopped onion, red pepper and sliced mushrooms.

  3. Add kasha (buckwheat) and stir around.

  4. Add water (I put bullion in for extra flavor).

  5. Simmer till water is absorbed (1/2 hour or so)

  6. Add parsley to top of dish while cooking after about 15 minutes.
