Recipe Ingredients for Julia Child Pastry Cream

3 egg yolks
1 cup milk
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons corn starch
1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Recipe Directions for Julia Child Pastry Cream

Boil milk. While waiting, whisk eggs, sugar and cornstarch together in bowl until smooth. When milk is at full boil, pour half into the egg mixture while continually whisking-then pour all back into the pan with the remaining milk (still on heat), add vanilla and whisk everything until thickened (about 2 minutes).
