Recipe Ingredients for John's 60-Minute Rolls

4 c flour
2 pkg yeast
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 c whole milk
1/2 c warm water
4 tbsp butter
3 tbsp sugar

Recipe Directions for John's 60-Minute Rolls

  1. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 c. warm water with 1 T. sugar.

  2. Scald milk; pour over salt, 3 T. sugar, and butter. Cool to lukewarm

  3. Add yeast mixture. Sift in flour. Mix until soft enough to handle.

  4. Rise in warm place for 15 minutes.

  5. Knead 20 times.

  6. Shape & put in greased pan. Rise 15 minutes.

  7. Bake at 400 F for about 10-12 minutes (watch closely). Makes about 3 dozen small rolls or 24 medium rolls.
