Recipe Ingredients for Johnnycakes

3/4 cup cornmeal
2 teaspoons cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 3/4 teaspoons unsalted butter
1/3 cup 2% milk
1 tablespoon 2% milk
2 1/2 teaspoons water (boiling)

Recipe Directions for Johnnycakes

  1. Cream the cornmeal, salt, and butter together. Add the milk and enough water to make a moist but firm batter.

  2. Drop by large spoonfuls onto a hot greased griddle, and flatten slightly with the back of a spoon

  3. When brown, tun and cook the other side.
