Very good and moist. Cake like. A real treat. Best fresh. Good even without the chocolate chips.

Recipe Ingredients for Johanna's Banana Bread

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup sour cream, light
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup ripe bananas, mashed
1 3/4 cup white flour
1 cup chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for Johanna's Banana Bread

  1. Cream butter. Add sugar and cream to light. Mix in sour cream, eggs, vanilla. Add bananas and mix well. Stir in dry ingredients gradually and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.

  2. Grease and flour 3 small loaf pans. Divide mixture between the three pans and bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes to an hour. Use toothpick test. If it is still too wet, continue to bake in 5 minute increments. If it is not done, the center will be gummy and it varies some because of the variable moisture content of the bananas. After toothpick comes out dry, remove from oven and allow to cool on rack. Tip out of pans. Enjoy. This recipe can be lightened by substituting light yogert (any flavor) for the sour cream. Also could use egg beaters or similar product. Use 1/2 the butter and add equal amount of applesauce.
